Pink Mountains

The image of the hot air balloon fascinates me - how can heat and air combined carry us safely over rugged terrain? The mountains receded, became harsh and empty, coloured pink and purple like the end of the day.

The Desert

The hardest one to subscribe, because it's really about droughts. When there's nothing more to say, gain, or do. The numb moment before you can start to grieve. We await the storm, so at least there's something to feel, something that's happening and changing. But right now, there's only the oppressive sense of waiting. Existing, but only that: just existing.

Chosen

What was supposed to be a sketch, became something of its own. It was supposed to be bleak, a storm incoming. But the drawing demanded something else - if the moment is this fleeting, anything can happen. Before I knew it, the sun shone through the clouds and touched the pearl, the orb, the fallen star.

Oasis

The desert series starts out friendly and colourful - the desert, the mountains, the oasis and the footsteps in the sand. I'm rereading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and feel that the sands have something to say. There's a road to travel that others have gone before.

Grotto

At the end of my desert series, the lady emerging from the grotto appeared. After the drought, after the dark night, she steps into the light. The scene has changed entirely and perhaps it looks a little far removed from the outstretched desert... But symbolically it's the same place, only the threshold to another chapter.
