Where am I among all these mountains?

Looking for my message as an artist has been a painful journey. This self portrait was made with the question in mind ‘where am I among all of these mountains?” I didn’t want a posed portrait, so I worked from a mirrored image with my neutral face at the time. Stern, self doubt, ‘I don’t want to be here/in the way’, self criticism – It’s not a pretty addition, but I’m literally taking up space with the empty question: where am I among the mountains?
