The optimism of a new year often fades quickly when confronted with the weight of global anxieties. Political unrest, environmental crises, and a constant stream of distressing news can leave us feeling overwhelmed and helpless. This article explores how art, despite the challenges of our times, can offer a much-needed escape, a source of hope, and a powerful tool for imagining a more peaceful and harmonious future.
I wonder if you recognize this: right after cheering the coming of 2025 with it’s new possibilities and New Year’s resolutions, it’s disheartening to watch the news.
I must say – after 2020-2021’s pandemic, I was hoping our generation had had its time of stress and witnessing history, but the news isn’t getting any less grim. As a sensitive soul, I have difficulty processing all the hurt, pain, possible danger, and fear-mongering language. When there’s immediate danger, you can react. When we speak of possible scenarios to prepare for – my imagination has a dozen more.
I know I’m not the only one.
Living in history – whether we like it or not
Especially in our times of fake news, low trust in governments and the need for media to retain our attention through emotional marketing… It’s a lot.
That made me wonder… why do I still bother to believe in art?
Going inside, meditating on it, going about my business, it suddenly hit me.
Because it’s one of the few dependable things left. Art is something that helps me wake up in the morning and make #OneArtworkAtATime to imagine a peaceful world and inspire others to take a breath.
So here it goes: two artworks in this blog post, based on that beautiful world of ours that still here, still worth fighting for, still ready to be admired.

I wonder how you are doing and whether you’ve seen the gorgeous sunrises these days! Gold and pink and deep reds – do you have any pictures you’d like to share? I love reading responses to my blogs!
